BLOODY DISGUSTING – The Rezort (formerly Generation Z) is screening at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on the 15th, 17th, 18th and 24th of June 2016.

“The Rezort sets its story in a world after an almost-apocalyptic zombie outbreak. Humans have won the war and are exploring how humanity can recover after such a huge percentage of the population has been wiped out. Humankind finally has the upper hand, but Melanie, who lost her entire family, is still deeply traumatised. In a bid to overcome the demons of her past, she goes on a zombie safari retreat. It is the ultimate in therapeutic revenge.

The ReZort is actually a highly controlled and monitored environment, with a maze of concealed security cameras, restraints and barriers. The eyes and ears of trained security personnel are on the guests 24/7, ensuring a safe shooting distance between the living and the undead. That is until the resort’s security system is hacked and a computer virus crashes it, potentially unleashing thousands of bloodthirsty zombies back into the wild.”

Dougray Scott (“Enigma,” “Hit Man”), Jessica De Gouw (“These Final Hours,” “Cut Snake”), Martin McCann (“Killing Bono,” “Clash of the Titans”), Elen Rhys (“Season of the Witch,” “World War Z”) Claire Goose (“Waking the Dead,” “Casualty”) and Jassa Ahluwalia (“Some Girls,” “The Bible”), The Rezort is a horror film offering a fresh twist on the zombie genre.

Steve Barker, the British filmmaker behind Nazi zombie feature Outpost and Outpost II, directs from a script by Paul Gerstenberger.

The film, produced by Matador Pictures, The Captain Starlight Company and UMedia, was shot on location in Wales and on Mallorca, Spain.

Watch the trailer for ‘The ReZort’ (also known as Generation Z), a horror film about an unusual kind of theme park is created to entertain visitors interacting with zombies as its main attraction. The movie opens June 1, 2016 in Philippine cinemas. No news about US/UK/AU release dates yet.

CINEMA BRAVO – Following a near apocalyptic zombie outbreak in “Generation Z” (aka “The ReZort”), humans now have the upper hand and life has returned to relative normality with only an occasional reminder or mention of recent horrific events. Most people wouldn’t even blink at seeing a zombie now. They know how to handle them. It’s no big deal because humans fought and won the battle and are in control again.

“Generation Z” brings the latest craze in this post zombie-outbreak world is the Zombie Safari: it is the newest and coolest thing in adventure holidays – a chance to go out and shoot the undead in the wild. The ultimate test in action and adventure, the ultimate blood sport and, to many, the ultimate in therapeutic revenge. But unbeknownst to most that go on Zafari, the park is a highly controlled and monitored environment; a maze of concealed security cameras, restraints and barriers. The eyes and ears of trained security personnel are on the guests – and the zombies 24/7, always ensuring a safe shooting distance between the living and the zombies. Nothing is left to chance. Nothing is unplanned.

The zombie movie genre is a popular one, with examples ranging across the decades from George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead to the TV phenomenon The Walking Dead as well as more comedic interpretations like Life after Beth and parodies like Shaun of the Dead. However, screenwriter Paul Gerstenberger was inspired to do a film with a new take on the genre, setting the story in a world after the humans have won the war against the zombie apocalypse and exploring how humanity would recover after such a huge percentage of the population has been wiped out.

I have added poster, production still and behind the scenes photos of ‘Generation Z’ in our gallery. Jessica plays Melanie and the film will be released this year. You can read the synopsis below:

DAY ONE: RELAX. DAY TWO: HUNT. DAY THREE: RUN
Following a near-apocalyptic zombie outbreak, humans are once again in control. If an occasional rogue zombie finds its way into everyday life, it is quickly disposed of by the authorities. In this day and age, people know how to handle “Zee’s”. The latest craze is the Zombie Safari – Zafari – a chance to go out and shoot the un-dead in the wild. The ultimate blood sport experience, and for many the ultimate therapeutic revenge following the losses su!ered during the outbreak. Little do the vacationers realise they’re actually in a highly controlled environment, where the zombies are always kept at a safe shooting distance. Nothing is left to chance, nothing is unplanned.

SCREENDAILY – Principal photography has begun on zombie thriller Generation Z, starring Dougray Scott, Jessica de Gouw and Martin McCann.

Set in the wake of an apocalyptic zombie outbreak, the film centres on Melanie (de Gouw) and her boyfriend Lewis (McCann) who visit a safari retreat – The ReZort – where every paying guest has a licence to kill the undead.

There they meet Archer (Scott), a former zombie-hunter who has to step up when the security system at the ReZort crashes and unleashes thousands of bloodthirsty zombies back into the wild.

The film, produced by Matador Pictures, The Captain Starlight Company and UMedia, will be shot on location in Wales and on Mallorca, Spain. UMedia International is handling world sales.

The cast is led by Scott, perhaps best known for his role in Mission:Impossible 2, who recently wrapped shooting on Taken 3. Other main cast includes Jessica de Gouw, star of TV series Dracula and Arrow, and Martin McCann (71, The Pacific). The supporting cast includes Claire Goose, Jassa Ahluwalia and Elen Rhys.

Steve Barker, the British filmmaker behind Nazi zombie feature Outpost and Outpost II, directs from a script by Paul Gerstenberger.

Producers are Nigel Thomas and Charlotte Walls of Matador Pictures (All Is By My Side) and Nick Gillott of The Captain Starlight Company. Executive producer is Karl Richards of UMedia, which majority financed the film, with Gloucester Place Films.

The project was attracted to film in Wales by Gennaker Ltd (working alongside sister company Western Edge Pictures), which runs a new film and media fund.
