Watch the trailer for ‘The ReZort’ (also known as Generation Z), a horror film about an unusual kind of theme park is created to entertain visitors interacting with zombies as its main attraction. The movie opens June 1, 2016 in Philippine cinemas. No news about US/UK/AU release dates yet.

CINEMA BRAVO – Following a near apocalyptic zombie outbreak in “Generation Z” (aka “The ReZort”), humans now have the upper hand and life has returned to relative normality with only an occasional reminder or mention of recent horrific events. Most people wouldn’t even blink at seeing a zombie now. They know how to handle them. It’s no big deal because humans fought and won the battle and are in control again.

“Generation Z” brings the latest craze in this post zombie-outbreak world is the Zombie Safari: it is the newest and coolest thing in adventure holidays – a chance to go out and shoot the undead in the wild. The ultimate test in action and adventure, the ultimate blood sport and, to many, the ultimate in therapeutic revenge. But unbeknownst to most that go on Zafari, the park is a highly controlled and monitored environment; a maze of concealed security cameras, restraints and barriers. The eyes and ears of trained security personnel are on the guests – and the zombies 24/7, always ensuring a safe shooting distance between the living and the zombies. Nothing is left to chance. Nothing is unplanned.

The zombie movie genre is a popular one, with examples ranging across the decades from George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead to the TV phenomenon The Walking Dead as well as more comedic interpretations like Life after Beth and parodies like Shaun of the Dead. However, screenwriter Paul Gerstenberger was inspired to do a film with a new take on the genre, setting the story in a world after the humans have won the war against the zombie apocalypse and exploring how humanity would recover after such a huge percentage of the population has been wiped out.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY – Freshman drama Underground is getting a second season, WGN America announced Monday.

The Underground Railroad-inspired series, executive-produced by John Legend, follows a group of African-Americans as they make their daring escape from slavery, and the various people that either help or hinder them along the way. Underground stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Aldis Hodge as two runaway slaves leading the journey to freedom, Jessica de Gouw and Marc Blucas as white abolitionists attempting to help runaway slaves in secret, and Christopher Meloni as a morally conflicted bounty hunter.

“Underground isn’t just a television show. It’s a movement,” said Legend in a statement. “This show does so much more than entertain, it inspires us to reflect on our past and learn from those mistakes to make a brighter future for our children.”

Legend’s influence on Underground can be clearly felt in the show’s soundtrack, which features anachronistic music from artists like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd. The modern hip-hop elements underline the highly stylized quality of the period drama, making the story set in the 19th century feel current. And with the recent news that Harriet Tubman’s face is set to be printed on the $20 bill, Underground’s themes are more relevant than ever.

Underground’s first season finale will air Wednesday, May 11 at 10 p.m. ET on WGN America.

MSTARS NEWS – WGN America is just a day away from airing the highly anticipated pilot of their upcoming show, Underground. In an exclusive interview with MStars News, co-creator/executive producer Joe Pokaski, cast members Marc Blucas, and Jessica De Gouw talk about what audiences should expect from the premiere.

As we previously mentioned, the period drama takes place in the antebellum South as a band of plantation slaves attempt to make a perilous escape. During this time period, the slaves at the plantation risk everything for a chance at freedom. They all want to head on over to the North and escape to the Underground Railroad. Underground will also examine the lives of slaveholders, slave hunters, and abolitionists.

Before the premiere on WGN America on March 9 at 10pm, the cast and crew of Underground discuss their roles on the show, filming on location, and how the music becomes part of the scene.

MStars News: Tell me what interested you about the project.
Marc Blucas: The script!

Jessica De Gouw: Yeah these suckers wrote a good script! [Laughs] I’ve read a mountain of pilots, first episodes, different things at times. And then I read this script. I didn’t want to read anything else. I begged to get in a room for two weeks before they were ready for us! It’s a genuinely phenomenal script!

Marc Blucas: It was such a good script. I saw it with one of my really good actor friends, Matthew Lillard, at the audition. I was in there saying, “How ridiculous these guys for not to hire him so that I would have a shot!” That’s how good the pilot is! [Laughs] I was at his wedding and sabotaging him! “He never comes out of his trailer! He never remembers his line!” All lies! [Laughs] But hey, it’s a dog-eat-dog town. When the material is there, you do what you gotta do! [Laughs]

MS: Tell me about the the roles you play.
JG: We play John and Elizabeth Hawks.
